Does QuickBooks Make Bookkeeping Easier for Small Businesses?
QuickBooks has known to be the bookkeeping/accounting software of choice for US small businesses for the past 15 years. However, with an increasing number of bugs across recent versions of QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks desktop, QuickBooks’ position is being challenged.
Users are looking for alternatives. Brad Smith, CEO of Intuit – the company makes QuickBooks - recently wrote “we messed up” when referring to the latest release of Turbo Tax. I would not be surprised if he said the same for QuickBooks products.
Downloading a transaction twice or even 3 times in some cases, matching transactions with wrong invoices, downloading a wrong date on a transaction, payroll taxes being calculated incorrectly, paychecks’ net amounts being higher than gross amounts, lacking flexibility in some areas etc. These are just a few examples of QuickBooks’ flaws we have seen lately.
For a user with limited experience with QuickBooks, the software could make bookkeeping and accounting a daunting task. In some cases, it would be quicker entering transactions manually than using QuickBooks’ automatic downloading and matching feature. On top of these, QuickBooks Online's subscription fees have almost doubled in the last few years. If you are looking for an alternative to QuickBooks, there are viable options on the market.
